Some of her most memorable credits include 7 years with the Sacramento Ballet's "The Nutcracker" and competing at local and national dance competitions (she loved those trophies). Mary Lou began teaching dance at 16, and at 18 was offered the position of Artistic Director of a performing arts studio in Citrus Heights. At 21 she opened her own dance studio where she taught tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, production (musical theater), and dance aerobics. In addition to teaching at her own studio, Mary Lou also volunteered her time to teach dance through programs at the Thornton Youth Center (Juvenile Hall), the Sacramento Children's Receiving Home, and co-directed the Aero Haven Jam Squad (a hip hop team for underprivileged elementary students). In addition to choreographing numerous elementary school and church productions, Mary Lou also used her talents for worship, creating the "God Squad," a dance team performing various styles of dance to Christian music. One of Mary Lou's favorite "dance jobs" was performing professionally with a Michael Jackson impersonator where she had the opportunity to recreate legendary dances from Michael Jackson's music videos and iconic performances. After Mary Lou got married and her family continued to grow, her teaching focus was redirected into the school classroom so she could spend more time at home in the afternoons and evenings with her children.  Mary Lou has an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master's degree in Elementary Education. She currently works full time as a 2nd grade teacher for the Rocklin Unified School District, and is beyond excited about teaching dance again, and celebrating her love of dance with her daughter, together at PDC.
